The Good Neighbor Concert Series (GNCS) was born out of a sincere desire to bring people together, for the purposes of promoting individual enrichment and healing, an increased sense of neighborliness and connection with the broader community, investment in the local, regional, and statewide musical and artistic community, investment in local charitable organizations, support for local businesses, improved overall health of the Greater-Lansing region (mental, physical, emotional, spiritual, and financial), and investment in the common good.

Furthermore, this series aims to elevate voices that would otherwise not, or seldom be heard in existing performance spaces (e.g., emerging artists, women, BIPOC, LGBTQIA, various faith perspectives, and other minority/marginalized populations). Season 1 (2024-2025) will focus specifically on highlighting Michigan’s fantastic roster of female singer/songwriters, and will draw from a combination of local talent and artists from all around the state.

This series will provide opportunities for healing, fellowship, and direct positive action to both artists and patrons, and create a bridge between people that may not normally find themselves in the same room, while maintaining a safe space for all.

Each event will also feature a different nonprofit organization, which will receive a minimum of 10% of the proceeds from both ticket sales and concessions. The nonprofit partner organizations will also have the opportunity to table at the event so that patrons can learn more, get involved, and/or donate additional funds directly if desired.

The series will take place at a new music venue, Stage One at Sycamore Creek Eastwood. It will occur roughly once a month, and be held on select Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, starting in mid-September.

Every event will partner with two local food-based startup businesses (Honey Bun Bakery and Sweet Lee’s Teas) to provide a variety of concession items for purchase at the event in the time between when the doors open and when the music begins.
